Upper Delatite

The 'Upper Delatite' area is a stunning part of our shire stretching from Happy Valley to Mirimbah at the base of Mt Buller. The locality includes the residential areas of Alpine Ridge, Changue Rd, Sawmill Settlement and the homes opposite Pinnacle Valley Resort. The boundaries between Merrijig and Upper Delatite often blur and merge with some residents feeling that they have an affinity with both localities.

Community groups in the 'Upper Delatite' area include:

Sawmill Settlement Water Works and Community Association - email contact: cook@waverider.net.au

Sawmill Settlement Historians Group - email contact: georgie_deyell@hotmail.com

Friends of Changue Road Reserve - email contact:  elary@bigpond.com.au

A number of businesses exist in the area including the Mill Inn restaurant, the Mirimbah Store, Pinnacle Valley Hotel and accommodation and B&B businesses.

Community Planning 2011
Community members from Happy Valley through to Mirimbah created their first community plan during 2011 and in early 2012 the plan was finalised, launched and presented at Council. The plan outlines the things that community members value in their area; and the actions or initiatives they feel will make their community an even happier, healthier and more sustainable place.

The key projects are:

  • A shared walking/cycling trail (now part of the Epic Trail)
  • An open space/play area at Changue Road

The shared walking/cycling trail has now been completed (as part of the Mt Buller Epic Trail).  For more information visit http://bike.mtbuller.com.au/epic.php

The open space/play area at Changue Road is underway, with a recent meeting to develop a collective vision and plan for the Changue Road Reserve.  Click here to read the Changue Road Communty Open Space Report from Meeting 22 November 2014.

The community also wants to advocate for improved telecommunications, sealed road shoulders, road safety and signage and improved fire safety (education and information).
