Q. Does the Mansfield Shire have a position in regard to EGM’s in Mansfield?
A). The Mansfield Shire acknowledges that gaming is a legal activity, Mansfield Shire currently has EGM’s and will continue to do so.
Q. Why is the Shire undertaking this survey?
A). The Mansfield Shire Council wishes to identify community attitudes on:
- The impact of EGM’s on community wellbeing
- The perceived positive and negative impacts of EGM’s in the Shire;
- The perceived impacts of additional EGM’s in the Shire; and
- The preferred location of EGM’s in the Shire (e.g. destination vs. convenience venues and attitude to EGM’s within the Mansfield CBD and other townships).
Q. How will the survey be undertaken?
A). The survey will be conducted over the phone to randomly selected numbers.
Q. Why conduct interviews by phone?
A.) This allows the survey to reach both permanent and semi permanent residents of the Mansfield Shire.
Q. Who will be undertaking the survey?
A). All surveys to be conducted by a fully supervised trained team of Wallis Group interviewers.
Q. Who are the Wallis Group and what experience do they have?
A.) Previously the Wallis Group have conducted studies on community attitudes towards EGM’s for the City of Port Phillip and Cardinia Shire.
Q. What kind of questions might I be asked to answer?
A.) Questionnaire will take approximately 10 minutes and include the following topics:
- Introduction and screening;
- Support for (entertainment) developments in general (and anticipated use);
- Patronage of pubs, hotels and the Mansfield Golf Club;
- Support for EGMs in general, including operation hours and community benefits and negative impacts;
- Usage of EGMs;
- Support for the introduction of additional EGMs in the Shire, including at destination venues and convenience venues within the CBD of Mansfield or centres outlying Mansfield.
- Expected usage of EGMs at destination and convenience venues
- Personal questions, gender, age, location, household structure and residency (permanent/temporary)
Q. What happens to the survey results?
A.) The Wallis Group will produce a comprehensive report of survey outcomes
