Fire Danger Period

The Fire Danger Period for Mansfield Shire and Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort is declared from Monday 18 November 2024.

Each year the Country Fire Authority (CFA) declares a Fire Danger Period, This is a period of time (up to six or seven months) during the warmest part of the year when the CFA restricts the use of fire in the community.

Fire Danger Periods are based on local conditions and take into account fuel moisture, fuel loads, grassland curing, weather and rainfall. The date that the Fire Danger Period ceases is determined on existing and predicted conditions that lead to decreased fire risk to the Shire. For more information visit the CFA website or call the VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226.

All burn-offs should be registered at firepermits.vic.gov.au or with the ESTA Burn-off notification line on 1800 668 511.
