Many of Mansfield Shire’s unsealed, gravel roads have been resheeted, with more scheduled to be completed over coming months.
The program includes the excavation and installation of numerous culverts, shoulder and table drain reshaping to improve drainage and the resheeting itself, which involves the installation of 100mm of crushed rock on identified priority sections of the roads to enhance and strengthen the road condition.
Mayor Cr Tehan said the program provided critical links for agriculture business, residents and visitors.
“This is a significant program with more than $2.2 million spent on the re-sheeting program. Alpine Civil have been ploughing through the work and we’re pleased to see safer, more efficient roads shaping up around the Shire.”

Council is responsible for a road network of 580 kilometres of unsealed roads as a part of a total road network of 840 kilometres.
