2023-24 Road Re-sheeting Program Underway

Published on 24 November 2023

The Mansfield Shire 2023-24 Road Re-sheeting Program is underway, with Alpine Civil completing gravel re-sheeting works on McKees Lane, Pikes Road and Monkey Gully Road.

The works include the addition of a new 100mm thick layer of crushed rock to the road surface, which is graded, compacted and reshaped, along with drainage improvements where required.

In Goughs Bay, Walshs Road will be treated with a road stabilising material (Polycom) from Piries-Goughs Bay Road through to the State Forest in conjunction with the re-sheeting works. This stabilising road additive has been trialled on other shire roads, with the aim to help reduce dust and increase surface longevity between road grading. Other road improvements planned include increasing the road width and enhancing drainage.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said it was good to see this important program underway.

“Improving the longevity of the roads in our Shire is vital in creating safer routes for users and a more robust road network for the future,” he said.

“Council is committed to programs like this which benefit both our local community and the Shire’s visitors.”
