A Bump in the Road

A new and improved speed hump has been installed in Ailsa Street near the Erril Street intersection providing a smoother, quieter passage for road users.

The speed hump in Ailsa Street was installed originally as a safety measure for nearby residents and to reduce the speed of the one-way traffic accessing the Kindergarten and Medical Clinic.

Residents and road users had raised concerns about the height, shape and noise created by the existing hump. The upgraded hump was installed mid-September after exploring alternatives that would ensure a quieter and more comfortable passage for drivers yet still be effective in slowing the traffic.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said that Council continues to upgrade infrastructure that meets the standard expected by our community.

“Traffic calming measures encourage safer, more responsible driving on local roads and improves the safety on streets with high pedestrian activity, such as Ailsa Street,” said Cr Tehan.

“Council continues to invest in our road network to meet the increased demands of our growing community.”
