Buttercup Road has received a much-needed upgrade with local company Alpine Civil Pty Ltd completing major works including gravel resheeting and improved drainage of the road surface.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said the community had expressed concern about the condition of the road.

“Roads are a priority for Council and we’re pleased to have been able to prioritise this road as a matter of urgency,” said Cr Tehan.

Buttercup Road resident Louise Jacob said “We are thrilled that Mansfield Shire Council has resheeted Buttercup Road before the wet weather.  A terrific job has been done and I’d like to thank Council for their quick response when addressing our concerns about the safety of the road”.

Heavy rainfall and high traffic levels over the long weekends in April contributed to the decline in the road surface condition.

Improvements include increasing the road width from 4 to 5 metres in sections, extension of drainage culverts and construction of improved swale drains to divert water away from the road. To improve the longevity of the road surface, a road stabilisation agent has been added to the road pavement during the gravel resheeting works.

The works have been completed before winter, to improve road condition and safety by helping to prevent water ponding in the middle of the road and contributing to rapid deterioration of the road surface.

Mayor Cr James Tehan encouraged the community to watch a brief video on the process undertaken to upgrade Buttercup Road.

“The video is a great visual explanation of the work that went into the resheeting of Buttercup Road,” said Cr Tehan.
