To celebrate Children’s Book Week, which was recognised across Australia from 20-26 August 2022, Mansfield Library went to kindergartens and schools to run Storytime sessions for children in their learning places and at the library.

There were ten session in total, reaching approximately 250 children. These included:

  • The prep class from Mansfield Steiner School
  • Farmhouse 3 and 4 year old day care and kindergarten
  • Mansfield 3 and 4 year old kindergarten
  • Grade 3 at Mansfield Primary
  • Mansfield Autism Statewide Service (MASS)

Mayor Cr James Tehan said Children’s Book Week provided an opportunity to promote literacy skills for children in Mansfield Shire.

“We’re pleased to offer these visits by our Library team to kindle a love of story, rhyme and song in our young citizens,” said Cr Tehan.

“Thank you to those who welcomed our Library team to tell Story Time in their spaces. We have enjoyed sharing 2022 Children’s Book Week with you.”

A competition for young people was also held to celebrate Book Week. Winners will be announced on the Mansfield Library Facebook page on 9 September 2022.
