Clean Up Australia Day in Mansfield Shire held on Sunday 6 March was a great success, with Council supporting local community groups to participate in the initiative.
Mayor Cr James Tehan thanked the community for their involvement.
“Well done to the Mansfield Scouts, MACE, Fords Creek Landcare Group and the other community participants who rolled up their sleeves to help clean up on the day,” said Cr Tehan.
Spokesperson from Scouts 1st Mansfield Heidi Cotterill said that it was great that the scouts could work in patrols to achieve goals.
“It was a great opportunity for having fun together and keeping active while doing wonderful things for our community and the environment,” said Ms Cotterill.
Mayor Cr Tehan said Council provided free disposal of the waste and recyclables collected on the day to support the initiative.
“We know our community cares about the environment and it’s great to see many community groups involved, connecting with the environment and caring for our community spaces,” said Cr Tehan.
The areas covered included the Mansfield Botanic Park, Fords Creek, the Skate Park and Mansfield Recreation Reserve and around the Mansfield Scouts grounds.
