More than $1.5 million will be awarded to projects in Mansfield Shire as part of the Australian Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program.
Mayor Cr James Tehan said the funding provided a much-needed boost to the community’s ongoing recovery journey.
“Council is proud to have partnered with many of the grant recipients and grateful for the injection of funds into our local economy,” said Cr Tehan.
“We know our communities have a strong and resilient character. These funds will shape our recovery and resilience and provide welcome economic activity.”
As part of the program, Mansfield Shire Council has been awarded $276,300 in direct funding to deliver an innovative project that builds disaster resilience in our smaller communities.
Council will appoint a funded position for the two-year project, which will work directly with at-risk communities to benchmark their disaster risk and resilience.
“The funding provided to Council will allow us to strengthen the resilience of our communities in preparation for bushfire and other disasters,” said Cr Tehan.
