Mansfield Shire residents are invited to apply outlining their interest and how they can contribute to the Mansfield Social Inclusion Action Group (SIAG).

The group will bring together local residents to identify the needs of the community to improve mental health outcomes and social connection.

A focus of the Mansfield SIAG will be supporting people most likely to be socially isolated, through promoting, supporting, and funding new and existing social inclusion initiatives within the community.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said the program exemplifies Council’s commitment to a connected and healthy community.

“The delivery of these SIAGs will positively impact the mental health of families across our Shire,” he said.

“This is a great initiative for those who have a passion for mental health and wellbeing and believe in grassroots, community-led programs.”

“The Mansfield SIAG needs to reflect our community and its diversity, with representatives from all demographics, backgrounds and experiences, including those who have worked in health professions and organisations.”

The first five LGAs to roll out the program are Mansfield, Benalla, Wangaratta, Latrobe, and Frankston.

Those with lived and living mental health experience either for themselves or as a carer and people who have experienced isolation and marginalisation are encouraged to apply.

Community members of all ages, LGBTIQ+A people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from different cultural backgrounds, people with experience of addiction, and people with disabilities, are all encouraged to apply.
