On Thursday April 13 Mansfield Shire Council welcomed three new citizens as part of a Citizenship Ceremony held in the Council Chamber.
Reflective of our ever-diversifying multicultural community, all conferees came from different countries, including France, Sweden and India.
Mayor Cr James Tehan officiated at the ceremony and congratulated Jacob Chathanattu Phillip, Camille Richard, and Angelica Tudeen on their commitment to being part of Australia’s future and for taking the final step in their journey to become Australian citizens.
“It is an honour to confer Australian citizenship and to be part of such a significant day for these residents who appreciate and value our society so much that they wish to make Australia their home,” he said.
To commemorate their special day, each of the new citizens were presented with a certificate, a citizenship coin, and a native plant by Cr Mark Holcombe and CEO Kirsten Alexander.
Mansfield Shire Council conducts Citizenship Ceremonies on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs, welcoming more residents to Australia throughout every year.
