Draft Asset Plan Open for Public Feedback
Published on 02 May 2022
Mansfield Shire Council’s Draft Asset Plan is out for consultation and the community is invited to have their say on how more than $200 million worth of infrastructure and other assets are managed and maintained.
Assets identified in the Plan include transport infrastructure (local roads, footpaths and shared paths), bridges and culverts, stormwater pipes and pits, buildings and structures and open space assets such as playgrounds, sportsgrounds and outdoor furniture.
The Local Government Act 2020 set out by the Victorian Parliament requires that councils must develop, adopt, and keep in force an Asset Plan. Council holds a strong focus on community engagement for the creation of all major strategic plans and the public feedback received will ensure that the plan addresses the needs of our community.
The purpose of the Asset Plan is to outline and communicate Council's proposed priorities and expenditure on infrastructure assets for the next 10 years and into the longer-term, with the objective to keep the assets in a fit for purpose state that meets the expectations of the community. While the Plan takes a 10-year view, it is to be reviewed regularly in line with changing community needs and expectations.
“The Asset Plan is a very influential document, and the community should consider what’s important to them and contribute to its development, said Mayor James Tehan.
“This first edition of the Plan will assist Council in developing priorities for management of key infrastructure asset categories for the next 10-year financial period and into the future,” he continued.
Interested persons are invited to complete a short survey, the results of which will help guide planning and decision making so that assets continue to serve community needs.
“If you have any feedback on the Plan, please take this opportunity to have your say,” said Mayor Tehan.
