Council is pleased to announce that works on the flood damaged footpath at Goughs Bay foreshore were completed on Friday 8 September.

The renewal works included raising the footpath and strengthening with geofabric, cleaning out culverts, gravel re-sheeting, and protecting the side of the path with large rocks to prevent water flooding the footpath.

Council received positive feedback from the community, including comments on the improved condition and enhanced appearance of the footpath.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said it is great to see these improvements in place.

“Council is committed to enhancing the safety and accessibility of existing footpaths across the Shire,” he said.

“The completed works have improved the footpath in this popular location at Goughs Bay, for the benefit and safety of all users.”

Contractors RBR Civil and Hire Pty Ltd were engaged for this project and are also currently working on sections of the Botanic Park footpaths and sections of the Great Victorian Rail Trail.

Expected completion for the remaining path renewal works is Friday 6 October, weather permitting.

Detours will be in place for sections at Botanic Park and sections of the Rail Trail may need to be closed progressively with detours in place as required to ensure public safety.
