Residents and ratepayers of Mansfield Shire will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the services provided by Council via a telephone survey. These surveys are held in all local government areas across Victoria, through a survey agency contracted by the Victorian government. Community members contacted by the agency will have the opportunity to provide feedback on Mansfield Shire Council’s performance.

The Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey is facilitated by the state government through Local Government Victoria annually, with the 2023 survey conducted by independent market research agency, National Field Services until March.

Residents and ratepayers over the age of 18 who receive a call are encouraged to undertake the survey which typically takes less than five minutes. The details and individual responses remain confidential, and only aggregated results are shared with Council and used to identify areas for improvement.

Deputy Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said in addition to direct feedback from community members, the survey is a valuable and transparent way for Council to benchmark its performance against community expectations. It allows Council to clearly see what is working well, and the areas where improvement is needed.

“Last year’s survey saw a significant increase in the rating of Council’s overall performance with a higher result than the average of like shires across the State, and above the average of all 79 councils in Victoria.

“We know our community appreciates the parks and gardens in our Shire and this was reflected in the survey results last year, with the appearance of public spaces scoring 11 points higher when compared to other small rural councils.

“Ratings for planning and building permits improved for the third year in a row, and Council is continuing to focus on strategic planning as our population grows and housing and service demand continues. We need to maintain the beauty and amenity of our Shire and careful planning is key to this as our population grows.

“Survey feedback about maintenance of our unsealed roads resulted in Council investing more than ever on our unsealed road network over the last two years, committing to delivering the infrastructure needed to support our community.”

"Parking facilities were highlighted as needing attention in our central business district, so we made the strategic decision to carve out more space for parking with the new carpark off High Street, alleviating congestion and making it easier to access services and businesses.

“Council is committed to providing outstanding service and I urge you to share your feedback if you receive a call to help us understand what really matters to you” he said.

Community satisfaction surveys from previous years are available to the public on Council’s website.

You can provide feedback directly to Council at any time via the “report or request” function on Council’s website mansfield.vic.gov.au, by email to council@mansfield.vic.gov.au or by phoning (03) 5775 8555.
