Have Your Say on Mansfield Shire’s Asset Plan
Published on 16 November 2023
In the lead up to the 2024-25 Budget process, Council is now inviting members of the community to have their say on how more than $200 million worth of infrastructure and other community assets are managed and maintained.
The Asset Plan is a requirement under the Local Government Act 2020 and the Mansfield Shire Council Asset Plan 2021-2031 was first prepared and adopted by Council on 28 June 2022, following community consultation.
Assets identified in the plan include transport infrastructure (local roads, footpaths, and shared paths), bridges and culverts, stormwater pipes and pits, buildings and structures and open space assets such as playgrounds, sportsgrounds, and outdoor furniture.
The Asset Plan will be reviewed and updated through a deliberative engagement process that will also include review of Council’s existing Road Management Plan, which provides standards for maintenance, repair and inspection of roads managed by Council and included in Council’s Road Register. This plan does not cover arterial roads managed by the Department of Transport and Planning, such as the Maroondah Highway, Midland Highway, Mt Buller Road and Jamieson-Woods Point Road.
Community members can provide feedback through attending deliberative workshops, via an on-line survey, or by contacting Council directly to obtain copies of the plans.
Mayor Cr James Tehan encouraged the community to get involved with this deliberative engagement process to help shape Council’s plans for management of these important assets.
“This is an opportunity for the community to have their say on an important aspect of Council operations; how our Shire’s assets and infrastructure are managed and maintained,” he said.
“I’d encourage everyone in the community to have a think about how this impacts them, to head to our engagement portal to have their say or attend one of our deliberative workshops.”
