Have your Say – Mt Buller Service Lane Design
Published on 01 December 2023
Mansfield residents and visitors are encouraged to give feedback on the proposed Mt Buller Road Service Lane design plans.
Council has worked with local businesses to identify changes required to resolve traffic and parking issues along the busy service lane that extends along the northern side of Mt Buller Road, west of Greenvale Lane.
This engagement with local businesses showed there was support for widening the service road and providing parallel parking on both sides, where possible, while also maintaining 2-way access along the service road.
The proposed works were included in Council’s 2023-24 Capital Works budget and will include the construction of new sealed road pavement for parallel parking along the Mt Buller Rd side, replacing the existing unsealed and poorly drained road shoulder currently used by parking vehicles. Appropriate drainage and line marking will be included, along with island modification at Greenvale Lane and island construction (suitable for turning heavy vehicles) at Timothy Lane.
Consultation with business owners has already occurred and their suggestions have been incorporated into the proposed design.
Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said Council is looking forward to receiving feedback from the broader community and finding out what they think about the proposed design plans.
“This project aims to improve the traffic and parking issues along the Mt Buller Road Service Lane, improving safety and access for local businesses and their customers.
“Council encourages everyone to give their feedback and suggestions, to make sure that we get the plan right,” he said.
Community feedback made through Engage Mansfield will be used to finalise the detailed design.
To give feedback, visit engage.mansfield.vic.gov.au and take the online survey by 12 noon Friday 22 December 2023.
