Interim CEO Announced
Published on 24 June 2022
Mansfield Shire Council is appointing Bill Millard as its interim CEO while the recruitment process for the chief executive position is undertaken.
With current CEO Kaylene Conrick stepping down, Mansfield Shire is conducting a comprehensive recruitment process to ensure that Council’s strong leadership continues after her departure on 8 July. The interim position will provide an acting CEO until a permanent CEO commences.
Mayor Cr James Tehan said that the appointment of an Interim CEO supports Council and staff while the best fit for the permanent role is explored from a significant pool of quality candidates.
“We have benefited from the strong leadership and experience of Ms Conrick. She has developed a capable team at Council. The interim position ensures continued leadership support for the organisation as we plan for the future,” said Cr Tehan.
“Mr Millard has extensive experience in local government. His most recent position was CEO of Moyne Shire, based in Port Fairy.
Mr Millard’s experience includes roles such as the Director City Growth at Warrnambool Council, where he was responsible for Planning, Economic Development, Tourism Services, Environment and Sustainability. Mr Millard also served at Hobsons Bay City Council as Director Strategic Development
Mr Millard said that he was looking forward to working at Mansfield Shire Council.
“Although most of my career has been spent in coastal councils this interim role is a good match for my experience. Moyne Shire is very similar to Mansfield in many ways with small communities, surrounded by rural land. I’m looking forward to understanding a new community and exploring Mansfield Shire’s attractive landscape,” said Mr Millard.
“I’m keen to continue Ms Conrick’s legacy and look forward to working with the Councillors and staff at Mansfield Shire Council.”
Bill Millard’s appointment is scheduled for Council’s consideration at the Tuesday 28 June 2022 meeting.
