Young people across Mansfield Shire are invited to participate in a competition to create artwork that will be used as a free bookmark available to library patrons for the year.

To celebrate Children’s Book Week 2022, Mansfield Library is running a Bookmark Competition for all young artists based on this year’s Book Week theme ‘’Dreaming with eyes open…’.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said this was a great opportunity for creative young people.

“We’re pleased to invite young community members to participate in this competition and get creative,” said Cr Tehan.

“There are great prizes up for grabs as well as the opportunity for your artwork to be seen by the wider community for a whole year.”

First and second place winners will be selected across three age group categories: ages 4 – 8, 9 – 12 and 13 – 17. Winning designs from each age group will be produced as bookmarks, which will be available for free from the library for the entire year. First and second place winners in each category will also receive Ink Bookshop vouchers worth $50 and $25 respectively.

The competition runs for two weeks, closing on Saturday 3 September. Entry forms have been distributed to schools across Mansfield Shire and more forms are available from Mansfield Library.

Prizes have been donated by Friends of Mansfield Library. Winners will be announced on the Mansfield Library Facebook page on 9 September.
