The Malcolm Street Shared Path project is progressing following delays last year due to extended wet weather and a busy local construction market. The project will be tendered in April, to enable construction to get underway prior to winter.
Mayor Cr James Tehan said Council is committed to delivering this project to meet community expectations and thanked local community members for their patience.
"Getting this project right is important and engaging a suitable contractor is a priority to ensure that the job is done to the appropriate standard,” he said.
"The shared path will provide major benefits to the community once completed. The improvements will help to provide a safer route for all footpath users and enhance connectivity to transport, schools and local businesses. It will also create a more attractive area for residents and visitors.
"Council will keep the community informed of any updates on this project, and we look forward to the positive impact it will have for the community.”
This $240,000 project is jointly funded by Council and the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) through the TAC Local Government Grant Program.
