Mansfield Library Refurbishment Set to Commence
Published on 30 May 2022
Mansfield Shire Council has awarded a $419,175 contract to Lang Construction Pty Ltd to refurbish the Mansfield Library.
Mayor Cr James Tehan said the extension and refurbishment would enhance the community’s library experience.
“The new layout will deliver a comfortable, modernised internal fit out, a larger dedicated children’s space and functional staff work areas,” said Cr Tehan.
“We are pleased that Council’s advocacy for an improved library service has resulted in a major upgrade for the community to enjoy. We know the library is a well-loved, highly utilised space and we are confident that the new design will provide a great environment for our community to come and read, connect, create and learn.”.
The planned upgrade includes a children’s space with a fun, kid-sized door, ceiling fairy lights and attractive wooden panelling.
The new larger layout will be a self-navigating and intuitive design. There will be spaces for socialisation, study, remote work as well as room hire.
The project will take place in two stages. During stage one of the project, the library will remain in its current location with access provided via the rear entrance. This setup is anticipated until September, at which time, the library will temporarily run a limited service at the Visitor Information Centre at the Station Precinct. During this stage, the final fit out of the library will be completed.
The Realising Mansfield Library’s Potential project, including the design and construction of the refurbished library, was made possible with $543,511 of funding provided through the Victorian Government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure program.
