An amendment to rezone land in Dead Horse Lane for industrial use has been approved and is to be included into the Mansfield Planning Scheme. Mansfield Shire Council has officially received approval from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) to make an additional 26 hectares of land available for industrial purposes.
The amendment (C51mans) also rezones the Bonnie Doon Hotel site to Commercial 1, recognising how the site is used. It was previously classified as farming land, which would have caused red-tape issues for the operation in the future.
Mayor Cr James Tehan said the approval enables implementation of the Commercial and Industrial Land Use Strategy.
“This much-needed industrial land ensures the continued economic prosperity of Mansfield Shire,” said Cr Tehan.
“The additional land will stimulate our economy by providing opportunities for growth of local businesses and to encourage new business to the Shire.”
Funding for this amendment was offset by a grant of $53,250 from the Victorian Planning Authority through the Streamlining for Growth program.
