The Community Centre will continue to be leased by Mansfield District Hospital (MDH) as they become the main provider of aged care services and require a space to operate their Support@Home program.

The Support@Home Program will provide the Social Support groups and Home and Community Care services that were previously run by Council ensuring that our communities continue to have a localised service.

MDH currently have a short-term licence agreement in place for the operation of the Vaccination Clinic and would continue to utilise the space in the short term.  Funding has been secured for a major redevelopment of hospital buildings and a permanent home for the service will be included in the development.

Hospital CEO, Cameron Butler, is grateful to Council for providing access to the Community Centre.

“This agreement secures us a venue for the establishment of an older person’s services hub to operate from. Not only are our service coordinators located there but we are already running some group sessions there as well.

“Programs such as cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and balance group have commenced. In addition it will allow us to work with regional service providers under the same roof.”

Mayor Cr. James Tehan said these important services focus on optimising both the mental and physical health and wellbeing of residents.

“We are committed to supporting the hospital in their delivery of quality aged care services to our community and this is one way that we are doing that.”

Council staff and MDH will work with other community groups that would like to use the space at times that will not impact on service provision. Through negotiation, groups can be given access to the site ensuring that Council facilities are used in a productive way.

Any community groups looking to access the building should contact the Property Management Team at Council on 5775 8555.
