Council has adopted the 2021-2025 Council Plan, which outlines Council’s strategic direction for the next four years. It details the commitments Council makes to the community and describes what and how it will deliver on those commitments.
Council voted to adopt the Council Plan 2021-2025 at the Council meeting on 19 October 2021.
Mayor Cr Mark Holcombe said the Council Plan focused on delivering core services well.
“This is a responsible plan that focuses on getting back to basics but with an eye to the future. It demonstrates how we will build our capacity to deliver high quality core services,” said Cr Holcombe.
“This is our plan to grow and develop our Shire from a position of strength,” said Cr Holcombe.
Mansfield Shire’s significant population growth over the previous four years was also considered as part of the plan.
“We expect to continue to experience strong population growth and this plan demonstrates how we plan ahead for the needs of a larger, changing population while protecting the natural beauty and amenity that has made our Shire so attractive,” said Cr Holcombe.
For the first time the Council Plan also includes Council’s Public Health and Wellbeing Plan. It examines the existing data for Mansfield Shire’s community and provides areas for improvement across health and wellbeing indicators. For example, Mansfield Shire’s population has a higher proportion of people who smoke daily and more people who consume sugar sweetened drinks daily than the Victorian average.
“This is a new Council and this plan outlines our new strategy to achieve the outcomes we know are important to Mansfield Shire’s community,” said Cr Holcombe.
“We are proud to be able to deliver a plan that respects and honours the community and shows how we will serve the community with a strengthening of our core services.”
