New Plans on The Way For Bonnie Doon
Published on 21 March 2022
A new strategic plan will guide and facilitate the development of Bonnie Doon with the preparation of a structure plan to facilitate sustainable local growth, with Mansfield Shire Council allocating funds to undertake a structure plan.
A structure plan is a strategic plan that guides future growth, considering how the community is likely to grow and change. It offers the opportunity for a comprehensive framework of guidance for community members, investors and for the delivery of infrastructure.
Council had budgeted $50,000 for streetscape design and planning for Bonnie Doon. At its meeting on Tuesday 15 March, Council reallocated some of those funds to take a more comprehensive approach to the project with the preparation of a structure plan.
Mayor Cr James Tehan said Council was investing in its outlying communities.
“As Bonnie Doon grows, Council wants to make sure it retains the unique character that makes it attractive to its community and visitors. The Structure Plan will ensure essential infrastructure, support sustainable growth, and mean that facilities, public spaces and development are well planned,” said Cr Tehan.
“This is an exciting opportunity to strategically develop Bonnie Doon. We look forward to preparing these plans in partnership with the Bonnie Doon community. There will be lots of opportunities for the community to participate in shaping the future of Bonnie Doon.”
The Bonnie Doon community is invited to participate in a comprehensive community consultation as the plan is developed. Further information about how to be involved will be promoted widely by Council.
