New roadside safety barriers have been installed on Shaws Road, Merton and extensions of existing barriers along Dry Creek Road, Bonnie Doon, after the bridge nearest to the Maroondah Highway.

Works on Shaws Road included the construction of 20 metre sections of roadside barriers on both sides of the road along the culvert that crosses Hut Creek. Dry Creek Road works included a 90 metre extension of roadside barriers to cover a large section of the road that had significant drop off into Lake Eildon.

Mayor Cr James Tehan said the locations had been identified through community feedback.

“We’re pleased to be able to increase the safety in these locations for road users,” said Cr Tehan.

“We’re grateful to the Merton and Bonnie Doon communities for their input into safety concerns on both roads.”

The works to supply and install the new roadside safety barriers were contracted to Waratah Constructions at a cost to Council of $37,625.

If you have concerns about road infrastructure or road safety, you can submit a request directly on Council’s website at mansfield.vic.gov.au or by contacting Council on 5775 8555.
