A new shared path is proposed for Kidston Parade and Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on the concept plan.

The proposal is for a 2.5-metre wide sealed shared path, linking Maroondah Highway to Malcolm Street and the recently completed path there.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said Council was committed to improving accessibility and this path was planned to connect with the existing paths on Malcolm Street and Links Road as part of Council’s Footpath and Shared Path Strategy.

“Council takes community consultation seriously and this is one path the community clearly want,” said Cr Rabie.

“The concept plans are all drawn up so now we’re asking for you to tell us what you think of them.”

Community consultation will inform the final plans, with construction budgeted for this financial year.

An existing section of concrete footpath on Kidston Parade will be expanded and incorporated into the new path.

“This is a key infrastructure project in this year’s budget,” said Cr Rabie.

“Council will invest in the installation of shared paths in several locations, including the continuation of the path along Piries-Goughs Bay Road near Goughs Bay and from Kareen Court on the Mansfield-Whitfield Road.

“This project responds to community feedback received during Council’s consultation for the 2024-25 Budget. It will fill a missing link between Maroondah Highway and Malcolm Street while providing pedestrian access between Mansfield Golf Club, Beolite Village and neighbouring residences and the centre of Mansfield.,” said Cr Rabie.

Community consultation is open until 5pm on Friday 13 September 2024. Community members are encouraged to submit feedback at engage.mansfield.vic.gov.au, or by contacting Council directly by email at council@mansfield.vic.gov.au
