Nominations Open for 2023 Citizen Awards
Published on 14 October 2022
Nominations are now open for the 2023 Mansfield Shire Citizen Awards. These awards provide all Mansfield Shire residents with the opportunity to acknowledge local achievers who have gone above and beyond in 2022.
Categories for nominations include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen (aged 14-28), Senior Citizen (aged 65 and over), Community Event of the Year and Community Group or Organisation of the Year.
Mayor Cr James Tehan said he was looking forward to receiving the nominations and celebrating the nominees for their contribution to our community at our Australia Day event on 26 January 2023.
“If you know someone who deserves recognition for a personal achievement or their contribution to our community, please nominate them today,” he said.
“Nominating someone is easy, you just explain why you think your nominee should be recognised and you can attach as much supportive documentation as you like. Perhaps they are role models or have excelled in what they do, making a real difference to our community.”
Last year’s Citizen of the Year Award winner, Margaretanne Hood said it was an extraordinary honor to be named Citizen of the Year, particularly during a time when the work of a health care worker had never been more important.
“Whilst I was recognised individually, I strongly believe that my achievement was only possible because of the wonderful team that I was part of at Mansfield District Hospital,” she said.
Nominations can be made until 5pm Monday 28 November 2022 and previously unsuccessful nominations will be considered. To download a nomination form visit Council’s website or collect a copy from the municipal office at 33 Highett Street, Mansfield.
Award winners will be announced at Mansfield Shire Council’s Australia Day event being held in the Botanic Park on Thursday 26 January 2023.
