Nominations Open for 2024 Citizen Awards
Published on 13 October 2023
Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond in 2023? Nominations are now open for the 2024 Mansfield Shire Citizen Awards.
Categories for nominations include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen (aged 14-27), Senior Citizen (aged 65 and over), Community Event of the Year and Community Group or Organisation of the Year.
Mayor Cr James Tehan said there are so many people in our Shire who give back to the community, and our Australia Day Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the efforts and contributions of local achievers who have gone above and beyond.
“If you know someone who deserves recognition for a personal achievement or for their contribution to our community, please nominate them today,” he said.
“Nominating someone is easy, just explain why you think your nominee should be recognised. Perhaps they are role models and have excelled in what they do or are quiet achievers making a real difference to the lives of others in our community.”
“Council looks forward to receiving the nominations and celebrating their contribution to our community at our Australia Day event on 26 January 2024.”
Winner of last year's Citizen of the Year, Cathie Smith, said, "Celebrating local heroes through the Citizen Awards highlights the exceptional dedication of our community members."
"For me, receiving the award last year was a testament to the strength of volunteers in Mansfield Shire.”
Nominations can be made until 5pm Monday 13 November 2023 and previously unsuccessful nominations will be considered.
