Road Upgrade Works Commencing in Goughs Bay

Published on 08 December 2023

Mansfield Shire Council is pleased to advise that upgrade works to Goughs Crescent and Catherine Street in Goughs Bay will commence on 18 December 2023.

Works will be carried out by CountryWide Asphalt & Civil Pty Ltd and will include improving the drainage system before Christmas, followed by sealing of the roads in January.

Mayor Cr Steve Rabie said investment in roads is a major priority for Council.

“Council has been advocating strongly to all levels of government for more road funding to improve the ability of both State and local road networks to withstand the successive years of wet weather that have seriously deteriorated road conditions.

“We have heard from many residents concerned about the condition of roads, particularly the major roads and highways managed by the Department of Transport and Planning, and Council has been taking every opportunity to make sure that these concerns are heard.

“We are playing our part and sealing these local roads in Goughs Bay will improve safety, reduce dust, and make it easier for residents to access their properties.”

This project is part of $932,837 in funding from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program. The LRCI program supports local Councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traffic management will be in place, and people are advised to please follow any signage and travel safely when in the area.
