Council has received community feedback on the concept designs for beautification works planned for the roundabouts at Chenery Street/High Street and Malcolm Street/Highett Street, Mansfield.

The feedback was provided via Council’s online survey for public consultation, which ran from January 31 to February 15. Council’s Supervisor of Parks & Gardens, Lauren McGinty, was happy with the community’s response.

“Many of the comments were positive, noting the simplicity of the designs, along with the artistic designs and low maintenance required,” she said.

“Other comments received included a call for more greenery to the Chenery Street/High Street roundabout to enhance the appearance.

“The adjusted designs will now incorporate a succulent plant variety in three locations on the Chenery Street/High Street roundabout to create a more inviting and natural aesthetic, whilst also requiring low maintenance.”

Mayor Cr James Tehan said it was fantastic to see so many responses to the online survey and thanked the community for their involvement.

“Council appreciates the time taken by community members to provide their feedback on the designs,” he said.

“It’s clear that many members of our community enjoy and take pride in the public spaces of the Mansfield township, and this process has provided residents with an opportunity to provide their input to the proposed works.

“Council recognises the importance of visually appealing and well-maintained streetscapes and how this can positively impact community wellbeing.

“This project aims to improve the look and feel of these roundabouts in line with community expectations.

The works are planned to take place over the coming months.
