Season Rescue for Bonnie Doon Netball

A timely refurbishment of the Bonnie Doon’s netball courts are underway so they will be ready for the netball season to begin.
The Bonnie Doon Recreation Reserve Netball Courts have been in an unsafe condition for play.
Mayor Cr James Tehan said that this was an important investment into the Bonnie Doon community.
“Last year, Council was appointed as the Committee of Management for the Reserve in a move that promised to bring improvements to the facility. This refurbishment project is one way we’re working with the Bonnie Doon community to deliver on that promise,” said Cr Tehan.
“Now, we can take action on long term issues in time to save the netball season.”
Cracks and failures in the court playing surface presented a danger to users. Council has approved almost $30,000 to grind, resurface and level the courts with a purpose-specific epoxy coating, which will extend the life of the courts surface. The Bonnie Doon Netball Club has contributed $10,000 to the project with $5,000 of sponsorship.
Darcy Smith, spokesperson for the Bonnie Doon Netball Club, said the Club was grateful to Mansfield Shire Council for the funding.
“We are really excited to begin the season on the new surface and are thankful to the club and sponsor for the funding provided. The teams are appreciative of Mansfield Shire Council for being able to coordinate this before the season start,” said Ms Smith.
