Tenders Awarded for Road Upgrades

Council is pleased to announce that tenders have been awarded for two significant road renewal projects for 2023/24 - the Resealing Preparation Program and Resealing Program will renew priority sections of the sealed road network managed by Council.

Works will take place at specific locations on the following roads:

  • Old Tolmie Road
  • Victoria Street
  • Howes Creek Road
  • Crosbys Lane
  • Barwite Road
  • Merton-Strathbogie Road
  • Mitchell Court
  • Piries-Goughs Bay Road
  • Highett Street
  • Highett Street Crossover
  • Nolan/Baldry Street Carpark (asphalt works)

After a strong tender response, the contract for the Resealing Preparation Program was awarded to contractor Bild Infrastructure Pty Ltd for $694,480.83 (ex GST). Works will include defining drainage, pavement stabilisation, surface regulation and shoulder works.

The contract for the Resealing Program was awarded to Boral Pty Ltd for the sum of $604,895.34 (ex GST). These works will include renewing the road surface through resealing, and asphalting the Nolan Street/Baldry Street Carpark.

Mayor Cr James Tehan says these projects exemplify Council’s ongoing commitment to investing in infrastructure renewal to maintain the safety and condition of our local roads.

“Council continues to identify roads that need improving across the Shire through regular asset inspections undertaken by our Field Services team,” he said.

“We value and appreciate community feedback on our road networks and encourage community members to report any issues requiring attention to our Customer Service team or by email to council@mansfield.vic.gov.au so that they can be tracked and actioned.”

“We also encourage community members with concerns relating to hazards on arterial roads managed by the state Department of Transport, including the Maroondah Highway, Midland Highway and the Jamieson-Woods Point Road, to report these by calling VicRoads on 131170.”

The Resealing Preparation Program is planned to commence later this year, with the Resealing Program to follow shortly after in early 2024.
