It is necessary at times for Council to put in place complete or partial road closures and/or restrictions across the Shire. This may be due to road works, large projects, community events, weather conditions or seasonality.
Seasonal road closures and vehicle weight restrictions apply on a number of local roads from July to September inclusive each year. The restrictions are in accordance with the Council Plan to maintain and enhance the Shire's network of roads.
This page outlines any upcoming closures that road users should be aware of.
Works commenced on Heavy Vehicle Alternate Route (HVAR) - updated 7 April 2022
Stage 1 of the project will include upgrades to Withers Lane and Dead Horse Lane to seal the unsealed sections of these roads and a new intersection at the corner of Dead Horse Lane. Works on Stage 1 are expected to continue until the end of July 2022.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area where possible as there will be traffic interruptions during the construction of the HVAR.
Traffic management is in place provided by the contractor.
Jamieson-Licola Road
Part of Jamieson-Licola Road is closed from 15 June 2024 to 1 November 2024 inclusive.
The section affected is from the Mt Sunday Road intersection, approximately 36km from Jamieson and at elevation 1200m, through to the Mansfield/Wellington Shire boundary.
The road closure has been brought forward due to significant snowfall, making the road impassable to traffic.
